Information Sent by a Visitor
A name, phone number, or address entered into a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. Atwater Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those form entries on its own servers. A message sent to the contact address contains whatever the sender chooses to include and is used to answer that message.
Routine Technical Logs
Hosting systems may record an IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and time stamps. Those logs help diagnose faults and measure page use in aggregate. Basic analytics, cookies, or advertising measurement tools may also collect technical data when they are enabled by the hosting or advertising service.
How Operational Data Is Used
Operational data supports hosting, error repair, traffic counts, and page improvement. Atwater Residents Directory does not sell a visitor list or build an individual profile from ordinary visits.
External Portals and Search Providers
Pages link to Merced County and California portals, libraries, archives, and sponsored search providers. Once a visitor leaves Atwater Residents Directory, the destination's privacy notice controls the information submitted there. The same rule applies to any third-party service that powers a sponsored result.
Service Providers and Disclosure
Hosting, analytics, and advertising providers may process the technical information described above. A valid legal demand may also require disclosure. Outside those service and legal needs, the reference does not disclose visitor data as a separate personal dossier.
Security and Retention
The pages use an encrypted connection, and technical logs are retained only for the operational purposes described above. There are no visitor accounts, passwords, or resident profiles maintained by the reference, which limits the information held here.
Visitors Under 18
The service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from someone under 18. If a parent or guardian believes a minor sent information, contact us so the material can be reviewed and deleted when appropriate.
California Choices
California's Consumer Privacy Act and Privacy Rights Act, Civil Code section 1798.100 et seq., can provide rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale or sharing for covered data and businesses, subject to exceptions. Because this reference retains little information, a request usually concerns a contact message or technical log. Use the Contact page to ask for a search of those records. Public records held by California, Merced County, or Atwater offices remain under the custodian's control, so a deletion request for a deed, court file, or voter record must go to that office.
Changes to This Policy
A revised policy will appear here with the new text. Continued use after a revision indicates acceptance of the updated terms.
